LifeRhythm 1.1 is Available

by MantaRayAdmin on November 10, 2010

We are happy to announce that LifeRhythm 1.1 is now available on the App Store. This release fixes a defect where the app would not start for the first time if your device was set to a non-US Region Format. If you followed our work around in the previous blog post, you were probably able to enter yourself and other people into LifeRhythm. Once you set your Region Format back to the original setting, LifeRhythm would crash if you tried to edit any people. Version 1.1 fixes that defect as well. You can download the update right from your device or through iTunes.

LifeRhythm 1.0 Not Starting

by MantaRayAdmin on October 31, 2010

A very kind and patient customer in the Netherlands has contacted us to describe a problem he is having trying to use our latest iPhone app, LifeRhythm. When running LifeRhythm on an iOS device that is configured for a non-United States region, the app crashes during start up and exits immediately. We have traced this to a defect in the Add or Edit Person screen and is related to date formats for non-US regions. The app crashes on start up because the first screen that is shown is Add Person so you can enter your name and birth date.

We are finishing up a fix for this defect and will submit version 1.1 to Apple in the next few days. In the mean time, we have developed a work around for our non-US based customers that should allow LifeRhythm to function. The first step is to temporarily set the Region Format on your device to United States, then start LifeRhythm and enter your name and birth date. You should then see your biorhythm chart. Next, go to the People tab and enter all the people for whom you want to chart a biorhythm. You can then set your Region Format back to the original setting and LifeRhythm should continue to work. It will correctly format dates based on your locale.

To set your Region Format, open Settings, tap General, scroll down and tap International. Tap Region Format and make a note of the current setting. You will need this to restore the setting later. Scroll to the bottom and tap United States and exit Settings. Now try LifeRhythm, it should start and ask for your name and birth date.

Once you have entered all the people you need, and changed your Region Format back to the original setting, LifeRhythm should work correctly, but you will not be able to edit or add people unless you switch back to United States first.

We are sorry for any inconvenience or confusion this may have caused with our customers. We appreciate your patience while we resolve the issue.

Our New Site is Online

by MantaRayAdmin on October 2, 2010

Welcome to the new home of Manta Ray Software! Our old site had become rather stagnant since it went live back in 2008 so earlier this year we decided to undertake a face lift. We enlisted the help of our good friends over at Bold Universe to give us a hand. They had designed the original site and had some great ideas for bringing us into the new decade.

You will notice that we have whole-heartedly embraced social media. We have a new Twitter account and have placed a Twitter widget on the right side of the page to keep you informed of our latest conversations. We also have a new page on Facebook which we hope will be a great way for our customers to keep in touch.

At the top and bottom of every page on our site you will find convenient buttons to access our App Store page, Facebook, Twitter, and the RSS feed for our blog. We also have a conventional Contact Us page where you can send us messages. Please use these channels to let us know what you like or dislike about our applications, or our new site itself. We always welcome your feedback. Thanks for visiting Manta Ray Software!
